Best Chiropractic care begins and ends at Integrated Health Solutions. Most people don’t know that regular chiropractic care can help uphold two of our body’s integral systems: the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Safeguarding these two systems with regular chiropractic maintenance visits can help you to prevent and ward off looming health issues and decrease your need for expensive tests and medicine.

While our patients who seek chiropractic care are typically suffering from chronic or acute pain or other disorder, chiropractic treatment and care is also beneficial for those with few or no health complaints. This is because chiropractic treatment’s holistic approach helps you to restore and maintain your body’s natural and good balance, allowing you to live an optimal life.

Athletes, parents, golfers or workout enthusiasts are accustomed to a high level of activity and energy that can diminish over time due to age, injury or misuse. The body’s natural ability to self-heal can also diminish over time, making us hesitant to engage in the healthy activities we used to love. Regular chiropractic visits can help you maintain good activity levels by reducing stress on joints and improving alignment, form and function. Many of our patients find that regular visits help them to refine performance, increase energy and reduce the likelihood of injury in their day-to-day lives.

Chiropractic Care Is Proven Effective

There is plenty of evidence that shows that the type of care our Chiropractic Indianapolis team employs really works. Not only that, it works better than other conventional solutions like drugs or surgery, without any of the risks or side effects. Patients often find that it also costs a lot less too.

One study, published in one of the world’s leading scientific publications, the British Medical Journal, compared how 183 people undergoing chiropractor care fared, in direct comparison to those undergoing physiotherapy or general practitioner care, which included drugs and counseling. The study ran for one year and, at the end of it, the researchers found that the patients in the chiropractor group recovered quicker and more fully than those in the other two groups, and for about one third of the costs associated with the other groups.

Another study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine confirms these results. That study compared the success of chiropractic patients alongside general practitioner patients. This study ran for seven weeks and found that twice as many people in the chiropractor group enjoyed good improvements compared to those in the general practice group.

Further studies show that the best chiropractic therapies can also drastically reduce your need for surgery. A study published in Spine showed that 47 percent of workers who visited a doctor for back injuries wound up in surgery, compared to just 1.5 percent of similarly afflicted workers who consulted a chiropractor instead.

The National Institutes of Health, one of the world’s most trusted centers for medical research, also funded a study, published just last year in the Annals of Internal Medicine, which compared chiropractic methods against drugs for neck pain. The researchers found that after about three months, 57 percent of the patients seeing a chiropractor reported a 75 percent reduction in pain, compared to just 33 percent in the drugs group.

One other study found that chiropractic care was much cheaper than traditional therapies. The study was published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Researchers analyzed data from 85,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield beneficiaries across two years and found that patients who went through a chiropractor spent about 40 percent less than those who went through a general doctor.

How Does Chiropractic Care Target Treatment?

Chiropractic Chiropractic medicine centers on the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system and how disorders or neglect of those two systems impact overall health.

The musculoskeletal system, also called the locomotor system, is made up of bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, joints, ligaments and other connective tissue. The nervous system is a vast network of cells and fibers that transmit impulses to different parts of our body. Working together properly, these two systems let us move, bend, twist and exist without restriction or pain. When these good systems malfunction, either one or both, we no longer feel our best and instead find our movements limited and experience pain or tension. Because these two systems also impact our organs and glands, when they are not working optimally we experience inflammation, headaches, insomnia, fatigue or other disorders.

To combat these biomechanical disorders, chiropractic medicine uses adjustments and chiropractic manipulation to induce movement in a joint, resulting in an increased range of motion and proper joint centralization. Through spinal adjustments, chiropractors reduce swelling around joints, which helps nerves function properly.

By applying pressure to key areas of the body, chiropractors also make adjustments that help to renew proper joint centralization. Patients undergoing this type of adjustment might hear a popping noise, which is made when nitrogen gas escapes from the joints.

Most chiropractic adjustments are pain free and our patients often tell us that they have immediate relief.
