There is a common pattern of tension and pain we see if the glutes are not kicking on during movements when they should. This is common for those of us with jobs that require a lot of sitting. The hamstrings, lower back, and calves will often work harder to try and make up the difference. This can cause pain and increased tension in these other areas.
If you are experiencing pain and tension that keeps returning in spite of stretching, you may consider working out your glutes on their own. Exercises can be as simple as glute squeezes to begin changing the pattern!
